Neurological diseases include those affecting brain, peripheral nerves, and spinal cord. These may include conditions like epilepsy, stroke, headaches, brain tumors, encephalitis (brain infection), congenital disorders, neuropathies, sleep disorders, dementia, Alzheimer’s, spinal diseases like tumors, spondylosis, and several others. To this, head injuries also add enhancing the burden to a very significant extent. Regarding mental health disorders, WHO defines this as a clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s cognition, emotional regulation, or behavior. These include anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders, disruptive behavior and dissocial disorders, and neurodevelopment disorders.
India, following independence, had to grapple with the most basic health care like vaccinations, infectious diseases, etc. However, as people's quality of life and socioeconomic status improved, the focus of National health care shifted to non-infectious pathologies and tertiary level care. Tertiary health care services, which received significant thrust, included cardiac sciences and gastrointestinal and liver diseases, to mention a few.
Provide compassionate, evidence based holistic treatment to persons with neurological diseases. These include (not exhaustive) epilepsy, dementia including Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, cerebrovascular diseases, sleep disorders and stroke.
To provide fellowships, educational grants for students and young faculty in the areas of neurosciences especially for epilepsy, brain tumors, sleep disorders, dementia, spine diseases, and stroke. These grants will encourage both young and senior faculty to acquire new knowledge from India and abroad, which they can apply in their practice.
To collaborate for research and fund for research with premier institutions of reputation like AIIMS etc in the areas of basic and clinical neurosciences. The research funded should be translational in value and should especially cover areas of epilepsy, dementia, brain tumors, and stroke.

Prof R Venkata Rao served for 31 years as a faculty of law at Andhra University in various capacities. He was the director of criminal justice Andhra University from 1997 till 2009. He served as a vice chancellor of the prestigious National law school of India University, Bangalore for over 10 years. He currently is the Chairperson of the Vivekananda School of Law and legal studies and Vivekananda schools of English studies. He holds a distinguished position in the society and was awarded Prof NR Madhava Menon best law teacher award in 2018 by Hon’ble M Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India.
